I was sadden to read about Gord’s passing last month and would like to express my sincere condolences to Sheila and the family. I joined BMO in Corner Brook in 1958 and had the privilege of knowing, and working with, Gord in several capacities. Gord was one of the most decent human beings I have ever met and he did his job with the utmost kindness and compassion of anyone I met in the bank, then and later in my career. I was the “junior” in Corner Brook at that time and Gord was instrumental in getting my career going, which lasted 42 years. Previously to joining the Bank I was a student of Sheila in the ARHS and was not surprised when they became a couple, because of their similar personalities.
I have many fond memories of those times. Gord, you lived an exemplary life and I am sure you are enjoying your reward with our Maker. May God bless you all.

I worked with Gordon at the Newfoundland Savings Branch of the Bank of Montreal in St. John's in 1973/74 when I was a young man. He was the Branch Manager and I was a management trainee. I believe all the staff thought the world of him.
I left the bank to return to university. Three years later when I needed a car to travel to Halifax to complete my Masters degree, I went to see Gordon about a car loan. I'm sure I had very little credit worthiness at the time. Despite this Gordon approved the loan.
He was a very gregarious man. I'm sure his family has many reasons to be proud of him. I offer you my sincere condolences.

Hello Sheila,
My wife and I only met yourself and Gordon last year on our wonderful trip with you through the Rockies. Although Gordon was much older I felt a great connection to him especially as we reminisced about families that we both knew from Corner Brook. Please accept our condolences. RIP Gordon.
