Obituary of Jeannine Marie Dery

Age 84, of Halifax, formerly of Montreal, passed away peacefully Friday, October 12th, 2018 in the comfort of Melville Lodge, Halifax, where she was wonderfully and lovingly cared for. Born in Montreal on February 3, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Raoul and Marie-Reine (Pellerin) Bonnier.

Montreal was where Jeannine lived most of her life with her husband and two children, Simon and Josette, until she lost her beloved husband Jacques, to leukemia in 2001. She decided then to move to Nova Scotia to build a new life near her son, daughter-in-law and family. Jeannine was known to be a very sociable, sweet and charming woman, who made friends everywhere she went. She also had a wicked sense of humor, a great zest for life and a loving, generous nature. Other endearing qualities were her courteousness and consideration for others and her warmth. She brightened every place that she found herself in.

Most of her peers and siblings are gone. She leaves behind her sister, Juliette Lavoie; her children, Simon and Josette Dery; many nieces and nephews, who mostly live far away from Nova Scotia.

She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service celebrating Jeannine’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, October 21 in the DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Father John MacPherson officiating.
