Obituary of Sheila Leona Aker

Age 70, of Scotch Village, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 27, 2018 at home. Born on May 6, 1948 in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Rita (Mansley) Lake.

 

Sheila worked at Avon Valley Greenhouses for 50 years. She loved music, children, social gatherings and talking to people. She also loved her sweets and her whiskey (aka Pepsi). Sheila will always be remembered for her smiles and hugs.

 

She is survived by her loving son, Jeff, Mount Uniacke; grandson, Jonathan MacGillivary, Windsor; companion, Mike Caldwell, Brooklyn; her dog, Sally; sisters, Barbara Robinson, Summerville; Sharon Wentzell, Windsor; Delta (Mike) McLellan, Digby; Lorraine (Joe) Clements, Upper Burlington; brothers, Keith (Marlene) Lake, Halifax; Tim (Becky-Lee) Lake, Scotch Village; many nieces and nephews; long-time friends, Janet and Christine.

 

Besides her parents, Sheila was predeceased by sister, Patricia; brothers, Lawrence and Stewart.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). An informal drop in celebration of life will be held Thursday, October 11 between 7-9 p.m. in the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Hwy 215, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sheila may be made to the VON – Halifax, 7075 Bayer’s Rd., Suite 100, Halifax, NS B3L 2C2 or a charity of one’s choice.
