Obituary of Frederick "Ted" Stuart Crocker
CROCKER, Frederick Stuart “Ted”
Age 89, Windsor, West Hants Co., passed away August 30, 2018, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, where he had been residing. Born in Millville, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Wilfred and Daisy (Ward) Crocker and raised by foster parents, the late Thomas and Madelyn Haley.
Ted had worked originally with his foster father in the family-owned car dealership in Windsor. He also worked for many years in the insurance industry, with Metropolitan Life, Prudential, and, finally, as the manager of Coastal Insurance in Windsor. A proud veteran of the Windsor Fire Department and member of Windsor United Church, he also served on both the Windsor Town Council and the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time in his vegetable garden, and was a skilled woodworker who completed many projects for friends and family. He was an avid reader, who especially liked non-fiction on topics such as the Oak Island mystery and World War II.
Surviving are his daughters, Lori, Milford; Robin (Mark) Paish, Kentville; sons, Reid, Rothesay, NB; Michael (Jung-Yoon), Windsor; grandchildren, Megan and Holly Paish, and Adam Crocker; brother-in-law, Cecil Reid; sisters-in-law, Faye Keith and Myrna Arklie; and many nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Chris (Dave) Bezanson in Merritt, BC. Besides his parents and foster parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jean Lorraine (Reid); brothers, Cecil and Earl; sisters, Gwendolyn Lutz, Betty Crocker, Donzella Kilcup, Glenna Kinsman, and Beatrice Chase; brothers-in-law, Gordon Lutz and Jack Crocker.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, at the Windsor United Church, Rev. David Hann and Chaplain Samantha West officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Centre Falmouth Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Church Annex. Family flowers only.
