PEACH, Leona "May"

74, of Falmouth. It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Leona, more commonly known as “May”, on Thursday, August 23, 2018.  May passed away peacefully surrounded by family members in the Hants Community Hospital early Thursday morning.

Born in Windsor on November 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Reta Aker and Herbert Peach. She was a loving mother and grandmother and, although a woman of few words, she was always kind and caring. She worked at Avon Valley Greenhouses for a number of years which is where she retired from. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, and doing crossword puzzles.

May is survived by her five children, Stephen (Tanya) Barker, Martock; Debra (Guido) Barker, Penticton, BC; Lori (Rick) Greenough, Upper Burlington; Gerald (Heather) Barker, Falmouth; John Barker, Falmouth; six grandchildren, Christopher Parker, Penticton, BC; Michael Parker, Burnaby, BC; Adam (Shelby) Barker, Mount Uniacke; Jessica Barker, Falmouth; Nathan and Ashlee Greenough, Upper Burlington; two great grandchildren, Abby and Hunter Parker, Penticton, BC; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her siblings, Judy (Ken) Carr, Bonnie (Donald) Peach, Lloyd Marr, Janet Marr, Donna Duncanson, Linda Lunn, Laura (Roger) Read, and Loretta (Tim) Purcell.

Besides her parents, May was predeceased by brothers, Wilbur Peach and Allan Lunn; sister, Karen Peach.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral by request. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Donations in memory of May may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, NS Division, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 5657 Spring Garden Rd., Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4 or a charity of one’s choice.
