We are so sorry for your loss. Too young and still had a life to live. The next few weeks will be the most difficult. I'm sorry that I couldn't be there. Know that we will think of you often. I was saddened to hear that Matt had passed away last weekend. I knew Matt as a friend and fellow student while studying geology at Acadia University in the early 1970's. I also had the privilege of working with him on some environmental projects for Canada Gypsum in later years. He was always a true gentleman. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss.

Dear Alice, Amy, Matthew and the family
Apart from the grief we partake with you, we feel sad that we are not able to attend the funeral ceremony of our beloved Matt who had gone to be with our Lord. However, I would like to send this brief message to you and the other members of the family as a way of consolation and peace.
As believers of the Lord, our grief is temporary and eventually we should thank God for his goodness and love and for taking Matt to his presence at the appointed time to dwell with him in a state of eternal bliss until we too join him one by one. This is the hope that St. Paul also talks about in his letter to 1 Thessalonians 4: 13,14:
"13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. "
And he concludes this Chapter saying; "Therefore encourage one another with these words"
1 Corinthians Chapter 15: 42-55 Paul strongly speaks about the resurrection of the dead. In 1 Thessalonians Paul compares the death with sleep. This idea was first spoken by Christ himself. In John 11 we read about the raising of Lazarus. When Christ gets the news about the death of Lazarus, he says in verse 11, ".....our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep.... in KJV translation we read; "....our friend Lazarus sleepeth...In verse 24 He tells Martha; "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die";... Christ further said in John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me."
We are also encouraged by the fact that Matt died in Christ, and therefore he is blessed according to Revelation 14:13.
There are so many other biblical verses that will certainly comfort us and bring peace and hope to our family. With these brief message I would like to close this message joining with King David by saying; "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want."
Finally we should thank God for his life and witness. I am hopeful that the grand children, especially Rosey will inherit the gift of music and bring tributes to him eventually.

Holleman Family,
