Wayne Monkman

Obituary of Wayne Rodney Monkman

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 64, of Stanley, passed away with his family around him on Sunday, April 8th at Hants Community Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Everyone who knew Wayne would tell you that he would do anything for anybody. He had a heart of gold but was a very unique person to say the least.  He loved his wife of almost 25 years, Sherrill Dearman, and was very proud of his children, Gordon and Miranda, and his one-year-old grandson, Carson, who were all by his side until the end.

Born December 2nd, 1953, Wayne was a son of late William Ivan and Shirley May (Bradley) Monkman, and was raised in Ontario with his four brothers and three sisters. Wayne grew up in a family that was very close and always stayed connected. Wayne and Sherrill moved to Stanley, Nova Scotia in 2004 with their children Miranda and Gordon.  Sherrill's family has become very close to Wayne as well during their years in Nova Scotia and he will be deeply missed by so many.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A celebration of life will take place at the Stanley Community Hall, Hwy 236 in Stanley on Sunday, April 15 from 2-4 p.m. Donations in memory of Wayne may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
