Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Duncanson
DUNCANSON, Helen Elizabeth
Age 93 of Falmouth, passed away at Hants Community Hospital on 29th January, 2018 surrounded by family.
Helen was born in New Ross to James Edward Collins and Lilla Blanche (Hiltz) Collins on 14th July, 1924. She enjoyed family gatherings, outings with friends and especially card games and tournaments. She was a very active volunteer and was honoured for her work. She loved gardening, doing word and jigsaw puzzles and knitting.
Helen is survived by her children, Heather (Brenton Smith), Janice, and Frank (Laura) and grandchildren, Dylan Smith (Britanie Wentzell) and Logan Smith and her brother, John Edward Collins (Elizabeth); and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Karl Owen Duncanson, and brothers, Lawerence, Paul, and Floyd Collins; and sisters, Anne Boylan (Arnold) and Frances Lowe (Clarence).
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Carrie Dauphinee and all her wonderful staff at the R.E.A.L. Residence in Windsor, where Helen resided for the last years of her life and received exemplary care. Thanks also to the paramedics and ER staff for all their efforts and the nursing staff for their compassionate care of Helen in her last hours. A special thanks to Father Craig Cameron for his kindness and comfort given to Helen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor, NS (902-798-8317). A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, February 3 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Craig Faulkner officiating. Private interment will take place in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Rev. Father Craig Cameron officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Family flowers only, by request.
