Although Joyce and I never actually met, we were "pen pals" for the last several years. I became interested after reading an article in the Herald telling about her and Dudley and his fight with cancer. We were both animal lovers, and Joyce kept in touch by letter since that time. I knew she was dealing with cancer too, and when I had not heard from her for some time, I was about to send a letter when I read of her passing in the paper. I know she enjoyed life as much as she could and all the comments I have read about her are so true of my impression of her. I know she will be sorely missed by so many, including myself. In her memory, a donation will be made to Bide Awhile Animal Shelter in Halifax. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends.

Deepest condolences to your Family. Joyce and I were in Gymnastics together when we were quite young and knew each other in school. After about 25 years we crossed paths at my work place in Bedford. It was wonderful to see her again. We talked long and enjoyed catching up. I am so sorry to hear she is gone and will miss our chats. Rest well my friend you will be missed....

So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing .
She was a kind soul and definitely a fighter . Our mothers were great friends and our friendship developed as a result. Joyce and I kept in touch until her last days . I will always remember our summers spent on the tennis court ( in our much younger years )and our road trips to the beach and PEI. Didn't we have fun !
She will be missed. Rest in peace my friend .

I was very saddened to learn about Joyce.
She was a fighter and her classmates all cheered for her.
I will be attending her funeral on Sunday.

Joyce was such a kind , caring person. We had great times while attending Windsor Regional Highschool together. She was taken way to soon and she will be missed by many. Rest in peace Joyce.

My condolences to all the family and close friends of Joyce. Joyce came to our singles group about 4 years ago and gained the hearts of all who got to know her.
We had lots of good times together including a couple of trips to Sandyland Cemetery where she hoped to find a burial place near her mom and grandmother. I am so pleased she did find a spot to rest with her mom and grandmother....
She was determined we must be related somewhere, somehow and we did figure out we were related to the same family of MacKenzies but not to each other; much to Joyce's dismay.
My last visit a week and half ago she was sitting up on the bed and chatting with us. A friend and I read scripture to her and prayed for her and with her. She said she wanted to say the Lord's prayer so we said it together and also the 23rd Psalm.

I am so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing.
We never met in person but we were on line friends through
CEDA. She was an incredible help when I first was learning
about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome 20 years ago. She will be greatly missed.

Joyce may you rest in peace now. I know that you are in heaven because I just saw the most amazing Rays of sunshine from behind the clouds tonight as I was driving home from work.
