Dearest family of Mike!
I am simply one of Mike's very satisfied customers, but needed to send a note of condolence to you all!
Mike built our cottage at Evangeline Beach in 2003-04, and was such a good listener (not to mention builder), trying very hard to create the dwelling that I was looking for, with no hard plans to work with. I have often praised him (behind his back) for the way that he totally interpreted and understood what it was that I wanted!
I was shocked and sad to read of his passing last week. I hope that you will all recall and cherish the joy that Mike brought each of you and are able to find peace with your "new normal". Much more joy is ahead for all of you. of that I am sure.

I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mike. He was a good friend while attending school (Three Mile Plains & WRHS) and later I would always see him driving by in his "Mikes Carpentry" truck and exchange a wave. I will always remember the time we played some road hockey in his yard (Garlands Crossing Vs. Backroaders) and a journalist stopped by and took some pictures and we wound up on the Front Page of the Halifax Herald.
Mike was a very kind and considerate person, and he was a lot of fun to be around.

What a man he was ! Always talking about Heather and his girls, and proud of their abilities and accomplishments.
I will always remember him as a friend and customer at Swinamer Supplies, and fondly remember day 1 of Mike's Carpentry. My memories of Mike were of growing up in the same neighborhood, playing pick up baseball games ,swimming in the swimming hole behind Ettingers Farm,and walking to the bus stop up by Masons. Mike always had a smile on his face and was always good natured. Fast forward many years ,Mike had a successful carpentry business and dad was just diagnosed with cancer but was determined to renovate the kitchen for mom so he knew it was done.Dad called Mike and he came right up.Dad had 2 or three plans made up. Mike took his time looking at each plan talking to dad and making suggestions and was do very kind and compassionate. Dad had great respect for Mike and so did I .My heart goes out to you,Heather ;your beautiful daughters,Patty and all his family and friends. ❤

My dear Heather and all the family,
My heart was broken when hearing the news of the great loss in all your lives. You describe him perfectly as he was such a gentle soul and full of quick wit and a twinkle in his eye when teasing!
For all you have been through it is quite difficult to understand this is a result but who are we to know? You have been in my thoughts throughout this and all of your struggles as of late. I have had such a terrible cough and cold that I didn't even dare bring food near you but please know I wish I had been able to help in some small way...
We will get together at a later date for sure. You are a very strong woman and I know the loss leaves a hole unable to be filled but your family will all help each other to carry on and remember all the amazing times with such a great guy.

I am so sorry to hear this. Mike was a good friend growing up on our road and later I worked with Mike with Robie Harvey.....
Mike taught me a lot about carpentry and enough to make me realize I didn't have his level of skills and should look at another profession.
Mike treated my parents so well in so many ways I could never thank him enough.
I wish I could say more but losing a great man like this so early is hard enough to handle. I am sure Mike passed on his strength to carry on.
