Wendy and family,
Lorne, or the "Silver Quill", as I named him, had a huge impact on my life. I just heard of his passing recently and am saddened I did not have a chance to pay my respects. I am now at the age Lorne would have been all those years ago in Saint John when I first met him. He never acted his age! Always youthful and positive. When I got transferred to Nfld Lorne took me aside and told me what to expect. When I got moved back to Saint John, we bought a house in the same neighbourhood and carpooled to work. We had many great discussions and laughs. He and I clicked as they say! He was always the same. Eager to give advise and calm while doing it. He always told me to slow down and smell the roses. He was a hell of a pool player and he and I partnered up several times to take on Terry Lennox and Kit Payn. There is a hole in my heart with Lorne's passing. I wish I could have introduced him to my 3 kids. They don't make them like that anymore. Rest in peace Quill! I miss you buddy.

Wendy and family, sincere condolences, I was so sad to hear Lorne passed away.
Lorne was a pleasure to work with. I remember after he retired, he came and filled in for a few months at King Street and it was a joy to have this very dedicated banker back at it. They don't make them like Lorne any more!
He will be missed!

To the family of Lorne,
It is sad to see a good man pass on too early. Even though I did not know Lorne, the comments show he a good demeanor and loved life.
We are never ready to pass away, which shows that our Creator did not intend life to end. So a comforting Bible promise we can look forward to is when "He will wipe of every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more . . nor pain be anymore" in the Paradise to come, right here on earth. (Revelation 21:4)
Please accept these thoughts toward the family.

Words seem so futile when you lose a loved one but hopefully the comfort in knowing that others care and share in your grief will help you in the days ahead. Our days working together at RBC's St. John's Business Centre seem like only yesterday but Lorne was always there with a smile, a joke, a story and that's how I'll always remember him. Our paths had not crossed in recent years but it is apparent from all the messages that he never lost his ability to connect with people around him. Take comfort and God bless you all!

Wendy and family, sorry to read about Lorne passing. we first meet in grade 12 at Windsor Regional High - I think Lorne had returned to school that year after a few years in the Arm Forces and I was coming from Hanstport.
Always remember Lorne sitting up front and asking our English teacher questions about various things trying to get her off the subject. She would skip words like damm or other words that may embarrass a prim and proper lady when reading to us
Also remember him telling the story about being in the forces - there was western show on TV and had tow Native -American with the names of Mr. Brothers and Mr. Cousins - one of his class mates had a surname of Cousins -so it was the standing joke on them

I had only met Lorne in the past couple of years and probably saw him a total of half a dozen times in my life. He and his beautiful wife Wendy would drop into Gram's and a couple of times it was just them and Gram and myself. I was treated like a lifelong friend and I so enjoyed getting to know these two very warm and friendly people. They always showed a genuine interest in everything I had to say and I was in awe of their obvious love and pride in each other. I have know Jen for many years and was able to see where her love of life and laughter came from. When I heard a few months ago of Lorne being ill I was so shocked and sad. My heart goes out to your children and grandchildren, but it breaks for you Wendy. I pray that you will find strength in those who love you and that you will be able to smile when you think of your love and that you will visit often in your dreams until you meet again. Thank you for sharing some of your magic with me. xoxo

I would to pass on my deepest condolences to Lorne's family...reading of his passing brought back many memories of him when growing up in Hantsport. He was a great supporter of HMCC serving as president when I worked at the pool in the mid 70's.. remember how proud he was watching Jennifer and Grant take swim lessons and their first jumps off the diving boards in the deep end..."after quite a bit of persuasion and a lot of treading water on my part". He was always around HMCC from July 1st until the summer ended.. still have my employment acceptance letter signed by him as President from 1975.
Then there was Lorne the "customer" at the garage..in the summers coming for lawn mower gas in his shorts and rubber boots. He was always around getting frequent oil changes, tons of gas for hos daily trips to work in the city ,repairs, car washes (he always drove a clean car). Then Lorne the car salesman...buying and selling numerous cars turned in at his work around town after having my father make sure they were good to go...
Lorne was always pleasant and fun to be around...enjoyed his frequent chats when he was at the garage on the weekends, many people always wondered why Barney Langille's car trunk was always open everyday when they went by....Lorne gave up the secret: Barney didn't want it to get damp and rust the car...
I last saw Lorne back during the 2015 town reunion....stopped at the end of his driveway in my white Cadillac and he comes walking up to the car looking hard at the car trying to figure out who had stopped,. He stuck his head in the passenger window as I greeted him and he seriously looked at me and said "I have no clue who you are" ..gave him several hints,. hired me at the pool, taught your kids how to swim, pumped several hundred gallons of gas to you,,,,he said "sorry" I do not know you...when I said I was a Bishop he said " I should have known"....lol. We shook hands and chatted as he checked out my car... it was likely 30 yrs since we last saw each other. I am planned to come to the reunion again this summer and was going to look Lorne up to see if he would remember me after two years...Sorry for your great loss and Main Street will not be the same....Darren Bishop
