Obituary of Mildred Irene Salter

Age 91, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she has been a resident since 2005. She was a daughter of the late Nellie Alice (Weathers) (Salter) Prestwood and Joseph Clinton Salter. Millie was a school teacher and taught in a number of schools in Hants County. Following an illness, she was a secretary at Minas Basin Pulp and Power Company in Hantsport until her retirement. She attended St. James United Church and Hantsport Baptist Church, where she was heavily involved in many church activities from Sunday School to secretarial affairs. She was also an active member of the Sons of Temperance. Millie had a love for animals and was very fond of her cat and dog. Besides her parents, Millie was predeceased by brother, Budson Joseph Salter; sisters, Myrtle June and Gladys Gertrude Salter; stepfather, Rev. Dr. John Prestwood. She is survived by nephew, Garth Salter and niece, Myrtle Daniels, both of Merseyside, England. Also, two very close cousins, June Dwyer and Murray Dwyer, both of Halifax, who have been very faithful and loving to Millie. Many thanks to Dykeland Lodge for their devoted care and excellent attention given to Millie. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 21 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
