Obituary of Edla Rosebud Swinamer

Please share a memory of Edla to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 73 of Beaver Bank, formerly of Windsor. It is with great sadness that we announce Edla's passing on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Born in Cheverie, she was a daughter of the late Mary Wilson. Edla liked to bake and made birthday cakes for friends and family, a tradition carried on by her daughter and granddaughter, Alicia. She made fantastic pies, cheesecakes and date squares. Edla played darts in a league in Windsor, liked Bingo and loved her Pepsi. She and Ron had many enjoyable times going camping in their "camper" with family and friends. She was a very kind and giving person and would do anything for anybody. Edla is survived by daughter, Georgina (Peter) Dimock, Brookside; sons, Fred (Liz) and Ron (Heather), all of Lower Sackville. Edla loved spending time with her grandchildren, Alicia (Evan) Doiron; Ben Dimock; Amber, Ashley and Ian Swinamer and Laura and Isaac Bennett. She loved watching Alicia, Amber and Ashley play soccer, Ian play hockey, joking around with Ben and visiting with Laura and Isaac. She is also survived by eight nieces and one nephew and her longtime friend, Ada Murphy, Edmonton, Alberta, who recently came home to visit. Seeing Ada brought a smile to her face. Edla was predeceased by husband, Ron; sister, Geraldine Lake; grandson, Adam Swinamer. She will be missed by all who knew her and especially those who were lucky enough to have tasted her baking. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service celebrating Edla's life will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, Rev. Darren Millett officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory of Edla may be made to Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia, 112-2719 Gladstone Street, Halifax, NS B3K 4W6 or Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia, PO Box 8804, Halifax NS B3K 5M4.
