Obituary of Ruby Lillian Harvie

HARVIE, Ruby Lillian Age 78, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 25, 2015 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on March 3, 1936 in Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late John Ingerson and Rosie Victoria (Wilson) Dykens. Ruby was a homemaker until her children became teenagers and then worked for a while as a sales clerk at the Metropolitan Store. She enjoyed knitting, watching television and especially spending time with her family. Ruby is survived by her sons, Donald (Nancy), Sweets Corner; Philip (Annette) and Christopher, all of St. Croix; Blair (Kathy), Brickton, Annapolis Co.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters, Winnie Hebb, Windsor; Dolly Caldwell, Falmouth; and brother, Raymond, Sudbury, Ontario. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Larry (1976) and a still born son, Robert (1959); brothers, Kenny, Sonny, Lawrence (Debbie) and three in infancy; sisters, Betty Jean MacBurnie, Frances Harvey and one in infancy; brothers-in-law, Charlie Hebb and Joe Ettinger; sister-in-law, Judy Dykens; daughter-in-law, Della. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 28. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will be held Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory of Ruby may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.
