Obituary of Dorothy Jean McLearn

Age 84, Haliburton Place, Windsor, formerly of Greenhill, Hants Co., passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born December 9, 1929 in Newport Corner, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Purdy) Brown.Dorothy welcomed many into her home over the years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, bowling, playing cards and loved cooking.Dorothy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Archie F. McLearn, Haliburton Place, Windsor; sons, Freeman (Sharon), Greenhill and Bruce, Greenhill; daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Christie, British Columbia; Debbie (Terry) McKay, New Brunswick; Dorothy Garrison (Brian), Alberta; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty, Marie, Joan (Ed), Linda, Jane (Raymond) and Joyce (Ken); brothers, Harry, David, Laurie and Lewis (Judy). Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sons, Clarence and Kenneth; daughters, Margaret and Leah; sister, Ruth; brothers, Jim and Lloyd.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, Rev. Clarence Bungay officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will be held in South Rawdon Baptist Church Cemetery. Family flowers only.
