Age 106, of Windsor, Hants Co., formerly of Belmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on April 11, 1908 in Windsor, Hants Co., he was a son of the late James and Bessie Benedict.Lewis was a member of the St. Silas United Church in Belmont and a member of the Pesaquid Lodge No. 38, I.O.O.F., Windsor, for over 50 years. Lewis spent his working years on his farm conducting all aspects related to farm operations. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.Lewis is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Minnie M. (Connors); sisters, Marion Lowe, Winifred Benedict, Muriel Moore, Dorothy Smith, Lottie Davis and Gladys MacBurnie; and brother, Gordon.The family would like to thank the Staff of Dykeland Lodge for their loving care provided to Lewis over the past number of years.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where a visitation will be held Sunday, July 13 from 2-4 p.m. only. A funeral service celebrating Lewis’s life will take place Monday, July 14 at 2 p.m., in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Debra Mosher officiating. Burial will follow in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont.
