Passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at her home at Evangeline Beach, Kings Co. Hattie was born August 17, 1920 to the late Fred and Minnie (Stuart) Hunter of Sweets Corner, Hants Co.She attended school in Sweets Corner and the Windsor Academy. She began her nurses training at the Yarmouth Hospital but felt too far from family and returned home. Soon after, she entered the Payzant Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, in Windsor, and graduated in 1944. Her classmates were Audrey Lowe and Blanche Keay. Upon graduation, she remained on staff and eventually became Floor Supervisor.In 1950, she married Ron Woolf and moved to Dartmouth. In 1951-52 she took employment at the Nova Scotia Hospital. Later, she worked a short time at the orphanage, in Halifax. Then the Navy posted Ron to Toronto and Hattie became an industrial nurse for Rothmans for three years.Upon returning to Nova Scotia she accepted a position as Staff Nurse, in Dartmouth at the Navel Armament Depot and remained there for 17 years, retiring in 1977. Hattie then spent her time between their home in Fort Myers, Florida and Evangeline Beach, that happened to be where her and Ron met.Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ron (2004); brothers, Lody, Rudolph and Clarance; sisters, Louise, Emily, Alice and Jean. She is survived by her dear nursing sister, Ida Mae (Harvey) Mounce and many nieces and nephews.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service celebrating Hattie’s life will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, Rev. Earl MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
