Age 86, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Friday, February 14, 2014, at her home in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Pictou Co., on November 6, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Hazel (Henderson) Falconer.Jean is survived by her loving sons, Donnie (Sandra), Ardoise; Mike (Tara), Ellershouse; Paul (Cindy), Three Mile Plains; sister, Irene (Alan) Black, Oxford; grandchildren, Kevin (Sari); Jason (Candice); Steven (Nicole); Kayla; five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick DeMont; infant son, Dale; sister, Elsie Falconer; her twin brother, Jack and brother, Grant. Jean was as proud of her sons as they were of her.She was a volunteer for too many organizations to mention and was awarded a volunteer award in 2013 at the local Volunteer Awards Banquet, that she was nominated for by the Windsor Gliders Club. She was also locally famous for her carrot cake. Jean belonged to the Gliders Club and enjoyed playing cards and bowling with her friends. She was a member in previous years of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 009, Windsor, where she volunteered to set up for many banquets.A very special thank you is extended to Barb Frank who was always there to take Jean to different functions. Another special thank you to Dr. Cathryn Smith and the Staff at Dykeland Lodge, who took very good care of Jean.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Windsor Baptist Church, 411 King St., Windsor, Rev. Jeffrey White officiating. Private family burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Empire Lane, Windsor.
