HARTLIN, Harris Ingram - 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Jeddore, he was a son of the late William and Lena (Cooper) Hartlin.Harris served in Second World War. He began working as a nurse with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and later went into combat serving overseas, most noteably in the Battle of the Scheldt River Estuary. In his later years Harris could be found tending to the lighthouse at Horton Bluff, from where he retired. He was a quiet man who loved gardening, both vegetable and flowers, baking, especially apple pies, his grandchildren, wood working and animals.Harris is survived by sons, Garth (Nancy), Larry (Heather), Stephen (Margie); daughter, Katherine (Michael) Strauss; grandchildren, Heidi, Emily, Laura, Jacqueline, Trevor and Tom; step-grandchildren, Alexandria and Nicole; sisters, Ethel and Etta; brother, Lloyd. He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Mary MacIntosh; sisters, Leota, Leontine, Helen and Vivian; brothers, Fulton and Thomas.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor (902-798-8317), where a private family funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 26, Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre.
