Derek and I had many world solving conversations at the grocery store and I recall fondly our days of snowmobiling and the fun we had over who had the fast sled. Rick It truly was a shock to hear about Derek passing away. I know there were times when we were two teenagers hanging around your house that Derek was like a second father to me. I will miss seeing him in town and having a good conversation with him. I know you must feel a big loss. So will many of your old friends. Derek was always one of the cool Dads that seemed to understand and giggle at us even when we were somewhat mis-guided. I will truely miss him.

Rick,I first met your Dad many years ago when I worked at the lunch counter of Vaughn's Stationary. I enjoyed chatting with him then, and continued to enjoy our chats over the years, the last time being only shortly before Christmas. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I am so sorry to learn of the Derek's passing. I had to priviledge of getting know Derek when he was moving from his house. I got to know him at the landfill and we talked alot in town. I would always see him at Tim Horton's and his big smile. My thoughts are with you all. For the short time that I got to know Derek. He would often talk to me about his wife and how he hated to leave the house but he had to. He often said how proud he was of this family. I am so sorry for your loss. Rick, I am so sorry to hear about your father, I was shocked when my parents told me the news. I will miss Derek and his "Hey Noisey" everytime he walked into Home Hardware, I got to know your Dad years ago when I worked at the Falmouth Kwikway, he would stop to pick up the mail and we would end up talking about this or that and before we knew it an hour would pass, we both loved to talk so it wasn't hard to do! haha I truly considered him a friend and I am going to miss his fun personality and our bantering back and forth. Please know I am thinking about you and the kids, Derek loved you all and talked about you all the time. I'm sorry I didn't make it today, but know I was thinking about you and your Dad. I will never forget him and his great smile, he will be missed.
