It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Elliott "Tom" Sheppard, age 65, of Ste. Croix, Hants Co. Tom passed away peacefully, after fighting a long illness, on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Jack and Louise Sheppard.Tom was a Mortgage Consultant for many years with Nova Scotia Savings and Loan, later with London Life and lastly with Invis, a Canadian Mortgage Company. Tom was a very kind, loving and giving man and could be relied on to help when needed. He was active in many sports in his early years and loved dancing, cooking, swimming and spending time at the cottage. He loved animals and especially the many family pets. His clients were all very important to him and he truly valued his many friends and family.  He attended King’s College School, now known as King’s-Edgehill. He loved to tell jokes and funny stories and had a great sense of humor. He was very active in sports at Kings and won many medals in Track and Field. He also won a number of awards while working for Invis. Most of all he was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.Tom will be sadly missed by his wife of 27 years, Jane (Marsh) Sheppard; his three children, Jason (Megumi) Sheppard, Justin (Catherine) Sheppard and Jordan (Trish) Sheppard, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Lynn, Aiden, Lina, Alex and Ashlyn; sister Jackie Moors, Halifax; numerous cousins, special cousin, Frank Whynacht, who was like a brother to Tom; several nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered in our hearts. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the VON for their special care of Tom.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will take place 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, Rev. Richard E. Walsh, officiating. Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Private interment will be held in Ste. Croix Cemetery, Ste. Croix. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Tom may be made to Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care or charity of one’s choice.
