Obituary of Steven A. Zinck

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Steven Zinck on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, who fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past nine months. Born in Windsor, he was a son of Florence (Pitts) and the late Arnold Zinck. Steven will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 24 years, Deborah Patterson-Zinck; son, Jeremy; daughter, Jessica (Sam); brothers, Blaine (Nancy) and Johnny; sisters, Sandra (Bill), Kathy (Tony) and Cheryl; numerous nieces and nephews as well as his extended Patterson Family, who became as close as his own family. He was predeceased by his sister, Beth.Steve was well known for his hard work, love and support of his family, sense of humour and energy. He enjoyed spending time with his children, paintballing and flying with his son, Jeremy, watching movies and listening to music with his daughter, Jessica. He also enjoyed hockey, bowling and baseball. He was actively involved in their upbringing, volunteering at various events including becoming a cub leader and baseball and basketball coach, so he could spend more time with them. Steven and Debbie have known each other since they were teenagers, a total of 37 years. They formed an eternal bond and their lives became one in the same. Steve worked at various jobs, eventually settling at the Halifax Shipyard, where he worked as a crane operator for the past 25 years.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Center. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Steven may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - Nova Scotia Division (1-800-639-0222) or a charity of one’s choice.
