BACON, Doris Pauline - Of Windsor, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 9, 2013, in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, where she had just celebrated her 89th birthday. Born in St. Thomas, Ont., on October 23, 1924 she was the only daughter of the late Vernon and Minnie (Clark) Brown.Mom was the devoted and loving wife of the late Robert "Bob" Bacon. She graduated in 1946 from the St. Thomas Nursing School, married Dad and moved to Windsor shortly after. While raising six children and nursing periodically at the Payzant Memorial Hospital, Mom also enjoyed the Windsor Curling Club, bridge club and other community organizations. As an RN, she joined the nursing staff at the Windsor Elms in the 1970’s and worked there until retirement in 1988. All her life she indulged in her passion for sewing, knitting, baking, ceramics, crafting, shopping and lastly her amazing talent for needlepoint, which she loved to gift to all the special people in her life. We are so grateful for these beautiful reminders of a truly kind hearted and generous woman. Mom’s sense of humour made her a joy to be with and her interest in people endeared her to anyone she met.Doris is survived by daughters, Pat (George) Lewis, Kentville, their son, Richard; Jean (Reg) MacIntyre, Antigonish, their children, David and Leah; Jacqueline (Terry) Ferguson, Windsor, their children, Adam and Andrea; Mike (Merilee), Kentville, their children, Mark, Matthew and Martin; Rick (Jaye), Calgary, Alberta, their children, Emily and Sam; Philip (Wendy), Coldbrook, their children, Joshua, Robert, Travis and Amanda and her first great-grandson, Caleb Bacon (Travis’s son); nieces, nephews and dear lifelong friends.
