Obituary of Ella M. Alley

ALLEY, Ella Mae - 97, resident at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 26, 2013, in the presence of her family and friend, Eva, at the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Ella was a daughter of the late Fred and Harriett (Borden) Strong. She was born April 6, 1916 in Lockhartville, Kings County and grew up in Mount Denson.In 1935, she married William "Bill" Alley. They lived in Lockhartville, and then Hants Border. In 1988, after Bill's death in 1987, she moved to Dartmouth to live with her daughter, Bernice. Later they moved to Bedford. She was a member of the Hantsport Baptist Church, the choir and King's Daughters Class.Ella is survived by daughters, Bernice Alley, Bedford, and Elizabeth Sanderson, Enfield; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Alley; grandchildren, Annette Monteith (Ted Richardson), Heather Alley and George Alley; great granddaughter, Katelyn Monteith-Richardson; several nieces and nephews. Ella was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by the love of her life, William Stockwell Alley; son, Edward; sisters, Beulah (in infancy), Hilda and Harriett; brothers, Bowman, Paul, Clifton and Moston.The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, of the 3rd floor at Arborstone, for Ella's excellent care and their compassion. Special thanks to the staff of the geriatrics unit, 9th floor, of the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, QEII.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 in Hantsport Baptist Church (corner of Main and Willow Streets), Rev. Earl MacDonald officiating. Interment will be held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, followed by a reception in the Church Fellowship Hall.
