CODY (Marsh), Judith Anne "Judy" – of Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013, with family and friends at her side, after a long and difficult battle with multiple myeloma. A small, but determined woman she fought cancer with the same irrepressible spirit and strength that served her well all her life.Judy leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Cody (Darren Leary), Falmouth; son, Sean Cody, Vaughan; beloved grandson, Christopher Leary, Falmouth; sisters, Heather Macumber (Arthur), Truro and Jane Sheppard (Thomas), Ste. Croix; brother, Bruce Marsh (Maureen), Dartmouth; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dearest friend, Julie Dooley. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Audrey and Gordon Marsh of Ste. Croix; aunt, Elizabeth MacDonald; sister, Carol Marsh-Hudson and her very good friend, John Cody.Judy graduated from Dalhousie University’s first class of Dental Hygiene in 1964 and worked in various dental practices the latest being in Windsor, N.S. Judy was a devoted ‘Horse-Show-Mom’ and pony club parent, even overcoming her own fear of horses and learning to ride. She was often seen in the early hours of the morning towing horses with her big red truck to equestrian events around the province. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and stitchery. She loved to decorate her home and garden, always working on her next ‘project.’ Judy loved flowers and gardening.In lieu of funeral flowers, the family requests you send a bouquet to someone you love in Judy’s memory.The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at Hants Community Hospital and the QEII Heath Science Centre for their care and compassion over the past decade, with a special thank-you to Dr. Jim Leahy, who was always there for Judy.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation by family request. A service to celebrate Judy’s life will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
