Obituary of Lawrence D. Connell

CONNELL, Lawrence Delfon - 63, Weston, Kings Co. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lawrence, on Sunday, January 29, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer in the Q.E.II, Halifax. Born in Middleton, Annapolis Co., he was a son of Freda (Freeman) Connell, Weston, and the late Lealand Connell.Lawrence loved drag racing and trucking in his earlier years. He enjoyed working in the orchards and picking apples. Lawrence would challenge anyone to a good game of cribbage.Besides his mother he is survived by son, Greg (Barb) Connell and grandchildren, Ashley and Jason, all of Coldbrook; brothers, Ronnie (Marlene) Connell, Weston; Randy Connell, Qualicum, B.C.; sister, Joyce Findlay (Bob Welsh), Port Alberni, B.C.; several nieces and nephews; long-time friend, Pat Odak, New Minas.Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Bryce Johnstone and DeMont Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service (902-538-8317). A celebration of Lawrence’s life will take place on Friday, February 3, from 7 - 9 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch # 69, 232 Main St., Berwick. Interment will take place at a later date in the Nictaux Cemetery, with Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
