Croix United Church. After leaving high school, Norma began a career with Canadian Pacific Telegraphs, starting as a messenger girl in Windsor and becoming an agent two years later, her first posting, Pictou. She was posted to various telegraph offices throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick until her marriage in 1951. She was always particularly touched by the messages she took during the war years advising families of the loss of their loved ones and she remembered each and every one of them as the roll was read on Remembrance Day. After her marriage she continued doing "relief" work for C.P.R. at all the little telegraph offices throughout the valley from Windsor to Digby, traveling back and forth via the Dayliner. She made many enduring-friendships at C.P.R. After the death of her husband in 1977 she returned briefly to the telegraph office in Halifax but began a second career as a bookkeeper at the old Windsor Elms under the administration of Donald Reid. Again, she made many enduring friendships. Many of the friends she made were still employees when she herself became a resident in 2011. Without exception, they were all there to greet her.Norma's family extends grateful thanks to her family on Fundyview Terrace, House 3. Words cannot convey how grateful we are to you.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation.
