ASSELSTINE (Sawler), Helen Louise - 48, of Halifax, formerly of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late James and Barbara (Collins) Sawler. Helen was raised by her grandparents, the late Howard and Winnifred Sawler.Helen, or was it her "evil twin Heather"? was the life of the party, making friends wherever she went. You always knew Helen was in the room if you heard her infectious laugh, followed by a coughing fit.  Helen loved her family and friends dearly, especially her grandkids. Even though Helen struggled with her health throughout her life, she always lived life to the fullest. Recently her red scooter helped make sure she was still part of the action, often taking passengers for a cruise.Helen will be lovingly remembered by her son, Steven; daughter, Sarah (Sabrina MacCuish); grandchildren, Olivia Campbell and Matthew MacCuish; brother, Kenneth; sisters, Penny Porter, Velma Hill, Tanya Lockhart-Lynch and Cindy Young. She was predeceased by brother, Steven; step-mother, Beverley Sawler.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held from 6-8p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Funeral service will take place Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Private family interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
