Obituary of Thomas Edward Withers

Died Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor at age 90. He was born on October 30, 1934 in Halifax to the late Thomas and Mary (Stone) Withers.

Ted was an avid and accomplished bridge player, accountant and long time federal civil servant prior to retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed extensive world travel including trips to China, Europe and the contiguous United States where he and Eileen collected state capitals and artwork along the way.

He is survived by son, Paul (Judy Myrden); daughter, Carolyn (Andy Heard); step daughter, Sarah Bennett (Keith); step son, Adam (Kendra) Mahoney; granddaughters, Ellen and Clare Withers and Emma Mahoney; sisters, Lynn and Faith and first wife, Colleen Murphy.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Joan and second wife, Eileen Mahoney.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 339 King St., Windsor, Father John MacPherson officiating. A reception will follow back in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will take place at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
