Obituary of Charles Edwin Bain
Passed away at home, in Upper Falmouth, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Born June 15, 1939 in Sydney, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late William and Florence (Boutlier) Bain.
He attended Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Technical College, graduating as a Mining Engineer. He was employed with U.S. Gypsum Company for several years in Windsor and in Little Narrows, Cape Breton. He resigned from that company and went on to teach Mineral Technology at Eastern Tech, in Sydney, which later became the College of Cape Breton. After that, he went to Halifax and worked, until retirement, at the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.
He loved to wet a fly in the Margaree River, enjoyed curling, achieving
an 8-ender at a masters bonspiel and always cheered on Team Canada at
the World Curling Championships. He enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue
Jays, even if they didn't win.
Ed is survived by his wife, Saundra (Smith); their son, Brian and wife, Jessica along with their sons, Christopher and Daniel.
