Obituary of Leola Lucille Cochrane
Age 85, of Windsor, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in Haliburton Place, Windsor, with family by her side. Born on July 27, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and J. Louise (Dykens) Harvey and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mum was a kind, loving and giving person. Although she struggled her entire life with a debilitating mental illness, she lived her life with grace. She would give you her last dime and share whatever she had. She was a beautiful cook and made many meals including homemade bread and pies. She loved special occasions, especially Christmas and her gifts were always memorable.
Mum and Dad married as young teens and built a life together. They had three children who became mums focus until the grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived. Mum had a strong faith which gave her much strength and comfort. Her bible was well worn. The most meaningful life lesson mum instilled in us was to be thankful and kind.
We would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to all of her care givers (earth angels), throughout the years, from Victoria Park Guest House and Haliburton. You filled her life with love and compassion. It will never be forgotten.
Leola is survived by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Julie (Jeff Miller); sons, Randolph and Jack (Carol); grandchildren, Zachary (Brianna) and their children, Chase and Gauge; Zoe, Madison (Tyler) and Justin; mum’s best friend, Vera Benedict; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Vera Phillips, Helen Boyd and Mabel Lowthers; brothers, Herman, Roland, William, Raymond, Herbert and Norman Harvey and Charlie Harvey, who was like a brother to mum.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7 in the funeral home chapel, Rev.
