This is me with my Ol' Buddy Russ (as I referred to him)
Russ will be remembered for so many wonderful things, like how kind he was, He was a gentle giant, he will be remembered for what a loyal friend he was, for all the recipes he shared with me , For all the Christmas's we celebrated together, For all the homemade wine we sampled together, And for being such a special friend to me and my family.

I met Russell back in the early 80's , he rented us the farm house above his place after we lost our home in a fire on New Years Eve (Day). My kids were just young then & he was like an uncle to them. We all soon became life long friends , in fact he was one of my best friends. I had just been in to visit him about a month before he passed, but I think about him alot , especially at this time of year because I always take him a bottle of homemade jam or pickles. I remember how Russell would make his homemade wine and he would always call me over to sample it, he made an exceptionally very good strawberry wine that tasted like soda pop, that was until you went to stand up...lol.
He treated our boys like they were his own and they learned a lot from Russell. We would all pitch in and help him bail hay in the fall, and we would make a big vegetable garden together in the spring and him and my husband would tend to it and then when it was time to harvest, I would make pickles and chow for both households. At Christmas time Russell would gear up the wagon and take the kids and I out to pick out a Christmas tree and we would sing Christmas carols all the way. He was one of the kindest, gentlest considerate human beings that I have ever met in my entire life and he will be dearly missed. My condolences to his family.

Russ was always a very kind man with lots of interesting stories to tell. He always made me smile when I was there and I will miss him dearly, So sorry to hear of his passing, condolences to the family.

Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. Although we never met you Uncle Russ, he must have been a remarkable and loving Uncle, knowing how you maintained such close contact with him and made him part of your busy life.

my sicere condolence to the charles murray(charlie) and to allthe nephews/nieces on the sudden passing of brother/brother in law and uncle.in 1955 i was 10yrs old and russell was 20 yrs old devoted to the farm, the bent family taught me all about farming back then. in 1983 my wife donna and our three children in late august went back toi visit the bent family. mrs bent was so happy to see me after such a long time. russell and charles murray were there plus betty . this year sept 11th i visited russell and charles murray and yesterday i was looking at obituaries in salt wire paper and seen russel,s passinig on monday 28th october 2024. i,m so happy that i visited russel and thank you neighbour garnet to say ,knock and go in.to charles murray thank you and the bent family ,thank you for making me good memories. gordie rogers north bay

Deepest sympathy to the family for the loss of a great man. I only had a few months to get to know Russ. I will always remember the stories he told me about his life, and smile when I think of him and the moose antlers that hung on his wall, and his fishing stories. He is a client I will always remember.

Uncle Russ, there arent many things that are constant in life, but the shear joy you had with a simple visit was always one of them. I’ve never known someone so happy to just have a visit and a chat with someone. It was something I could always count on was a trip to the farm and a talk with you. The world is a little lesser now.
