Obituary of Ruby Elnora Hines

Age 92, of Windsor, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on September 11, 1932 in Wentworth Creek, Hants Co, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Alice (Mason) Whitehead.

Ruby loved crocheting and doing puzzles which one was always on the go. Old black and white movies where also a favorite.

She is survived by daughter, Heather (Paul) Wilcox, Coldbrook; grandson, Brandon (Amy) Wilcox, Lr. Sackville; sister, Hazel VanTassel, Martinon, NB; brother, Herman Whitehead, Dartmouth; special niece, Barb Hines, Windsor; as well as many other extended family members.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Harold “Sonny”; daughters, Christina and Nancy, in infancy; siblings, Sidney, Cecil, Wilfred, Murray, Gordon, Donald, Clarence, Arnold, Shirley Whitehead and Dorothy Hines.

The family would like to thank the staff of Snow Haven, Dykeland Lodge for their care and compassion shown to us and Mom.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation as per her request. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8 in Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., St. Croix, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Please bring a chair and umbrella if required. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory of Ruby may be made to Friends of Dykeland, 124 Cottage St., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or to a charity of one’s choice.
