We are sad to announce the passing of Marion Alice (McBay) Davison, age 93, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 2, 1931 in Wolfville to the late William and Alice (Rose) McBay and grew up in Grand Pre.

Marion married James "Jim" Harvey Davison of Grand Pre on January 28, 1949. They were happily married for 64 years. They lived in Dartmouth and later moved to St. Croix.

She is survived by son, Bruce (Bernadine); daughters, Shirley (Ernie), Brenda and Sally; grandchildren, Maggie, Kacie, Rebecca, Ryan, Lisa, Gordon, Billy, Rosie, Anthony, Douglas, Melissa, Jamie, David, Michelle, Linda and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald, sister, Shirley, sisters-in-law, Lynda and Patricia and brother-in-law, Phil.

Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband, James "Jim" Harvey Davison (June 3, 2013); their son, Robert; grandson, Steven Baxter; brothers, George, Bill, Ronald, John and her sisters-in-law, Eleanore and Patti; daughter-in-law, Patricia Davison and son-in-law, Philip McShane.

Marion was a member for many years of the St. Croix United Church, St. Croix UCW and of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia. She worked for many years as a cashier at Dominion Stores in Dartmouth and various other jobs. She was multi-talented: she was a writer and had many articles printed in Nova Scotia magazines as well as co-authoring a book, Smoke over Grand Pre, with her friend, Audrey Marsh. She won writing awards and she painted beautiful landscapes. She and James enjoyed gardening at their Dartmouth home and later at their St. Croix home.

Marion was an avid reader of history of Nova Scotia and was accustomed to reading the Chronicle Herald every day. She enjoyed watching sports, figure skating and hockey. She and James spent many holidays traveling by car to visit family (Maine, Florida, Ontario, Texas, British Columbia). They usually traveled with two small dogs, Buddy and Bambi. They spent many days travelling about Nova Scotia in a van James had customized.

Her family is very thankful and appreciative of the excellent care the staff at the Windsor Elms Village showed to Marion.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12 in Ste. Croix United Church, St. Croix, with Marion’s daughter, Rev. Sally McShane officiating and representing the voices of Marion’s entire family. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Ste. Croix Cemetery.
