Obituary of Keith James Anthony

Please share a memory of Keith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Keith James Anthony, 82, announce his passing on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at home. Born in Mosherville on February 22, 1942, Keith was the son of the late James Yeo and Thelma Lee (Barron) Anthony.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanya; grandchildren, Keith and Marquis; sister, Carole (Robert) Putnam; brother-in-law, Clarence Spicer and former spouse, Judy.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister, Verna Spicer.

Keith was a member of the Mosherville United Church.  He enjoyed a long and fulfilling life on his family farm raising beef cattle and working in the woods. He held the position of fire watchmen at the Stanley Airport, worked at various saw mills, had his own dump trucks and drove trucks for others.

Keith spent many seasons at the Department of Highways doing road construction and operation of asphalt plants from Digby to Cape Breton. His ability to recount the many tales of local Stanley and Nova Scotia history with precision and humour stayed with him until the end. His always entertaining stories will be greatly missed. “Grampy Keith” was a local icon and will always be remembered as a wonderful source of joy to his family, grandchildren and pets, all of whom he dearly loved.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Service will be at a later date. Memorial donations in Keith’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Messages of condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:  www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca
