Obituary of Phyllis Mildred Curry

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Phyllis Mildred (Payzant) Curry, of Falmouth/Dartmouth, was born on June 9, 1929 and passed away peacefully in her sleep early Friday, August 23, 2024 in Windsor, after a courageous battle with an aggressive and rare cancer. She was the daughter of the late Philip William and Mildred (Taylor) Payzant. She was the wife of Eric Morris Curry for 34 years. She enjoyed travelling and was an avid golfer, enjoying her last game on the slopes of the Lunenburg Golf Course early this August.

Phyllis is survived by children, Rev'd. David (Marilyn) Curry, Susan (David) Curry and Kathryn (Glenn) Mclsaac; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Curry) (Evan) King, Joel Curry, Madeleine Curry (Anthony Gerbrandt), Ian (Sana) McIsaac and Dominic Lacombe; great grandchildren, Silas, Anna and Nathaniel King and Jeanne Elizabeth Gerbrandt Curry.

She was predeceased by her mother, Mildred (1930), father, Philip William Payzant; brothers, Charles and Ross and her husband, Eric (1987).

The family is most grateful to the Gladys Manning Retirement Home for their care and kindness during the short time of her residency, to the wonderful attention of the Palliative Care Team of the Hants Community Hospital under Amber Phillips; to the services of Continuing Care and to the VON. Our thanks as well to Dr. Mark Taylor and Dr. Lara Best and her radiation team extraordinaire at the Dickson Centre of the VG in Halifax for their kindness and compassion during her treatments. Phyllis was quite the “trooper” and put up a noble fight.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). At her wishes there will be no visitation. A family committal service will be held in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Rev'd. David Curry officiating, where she will be interred next to her beloved husband, Eric.
