It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Parker, age 77, of Greenhill, Hants County on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born on May 8, 1947 in Upper Newport to the late Harris and Della (Manning) Parker. 

Larry started working in his teens with his father in the woods. In his later teens he drove a dump truck for various owners. He went to work with the Department of Transportation in 1969 operating a grader and doing winter work. Larry retired in 2005.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving his ATV and working on his old trucks. Larry would often take his family for drives and he always wanted to take his mother-in-law, Stella Redden, who he dearly loved.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Shirley Redden; sons, Corey (Beth Hodder) and Jason (Jen Gibson); precious granddaughter, Evelyn; sisters, Virginia Cochrane, Betty (Carman) Whitman, Connie (Bill) McHale, Carol (Keith) Etter, Linda Phillips, Gail (John) LeBlanc, Judy (Joe) Putt and Shelley (Brian) Hebb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Earleen Britten) Redden, Cecile Orman, Kathy (Mike) Lloyd and Kenny (Cece) Redden; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Stella Redden; brothers-in-law, Leo Cochrane, Gordon Redden, Gary Redden and Joey Orman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, Celebrant Helen Lindsay officiating.
