Obituary of Robert Joseph Brown

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with a brain tumour. Born October 5, 1963 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Bobby was a son of the late Robert M. and Muriel (Berthiaume) Brown.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 35 years, Heather (Hunt); children, Sarah (Elliot) Bredin, Stacey (Joel) Scott, Jared (Emma Cochrane) and Ally (Ryan) Maher, all of which he was so proud of; his granddaughters, Abigail, Olivia and June, that adored him and proudly called him Papa; siblings, Sharon White (Ken Sears), Gary Brown (Kathy Baxter) and Debbie (Avery) Aker; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by sister-in-law, Linda Brown.

Bobby loved his family most, spending time with them was his greatest joy. He adored Heather, his partner in all things. They loved to host events and bring people together at their wine tastings, Christmas gatherings and the annual charity hot chocolate stand. Bobby was known for lighting up a room, enthusiastically sharing stories of a life well-lived. He was also an avid dog lover and could always be found cuddling with his grand-puppies during their visits. Bobby enjoyed traveling and we are grateful for a recent trip to Florida he and Heather took with close friends.

He spent his career helping others, with over 30 years in paramedicine, starting in his community of Windsor and then across Nova Scotia, ending his career as Director of Operations for the province's ambulance service. He also worked as a Deputy Sheriff, served as a volunteer firefighter, taught paramedicine courses and shared his pioneering work in community paramedicine worldwide. Throughout his personal and professional journey, he shaped lives, provided sage wisdom and made the world better.

Despite numerous health issues, he faced life with resilience, bravery, positivity and a sense of humour, all of which he passed on to his children. His legacy will live on in those he taught, those he mentored, but most of all, those he loved.

The family would like to say a special thank you to his entire medical team, especially Dr. Paige Stevens.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Saturday, July 6.
