Obituary of Murray Edward Walker
Age 93, of New Ross, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024, in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia. Born on October 26, 1930 in New Ross, he was a son of the late Vincent and Alice (Leopold) Walker.
Murray owned his own truck and was a long-haul trucker working in the forestry industry. He loved playing crib and darts and would often attend tournaments. Murray enjoyed making and selling sauerkraut, which became well-liked by many people around the South Shore and Annapolis Valley and was something he continued to do up until several years ago. He also enjoyed gardening in the summer. Murray was a member of Christ Anglican Church, New Ross and past member of the New Ross Royal Canadian Legion - Branch #79.
Murray is survived by son, David (Gail); granddaughter, Victoria (Scott) Carr, daughter-in-law, Joan Lenihan, son-in-law, Rodney Hiltz; sisters, Anne (Pat) Hiltz, Marcelle Carver and Ella McDow; sisters-in-law, Emily and Mable Walker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Murray was predeceased by his wife, Hilda (Rines); daughter, Brenda Hiltz; brothers, Francis, Robert, Laurie and Ronald; brothers-in-law, Gerald Carver and Cecil McDow; sisters-in-law, Gladys and Ora Walker.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A public graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 18, in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, New Ross.
