It is with a heavy heart that I've heard about John's passing. I have had the pleasure of being associated with John's work since 1975 when, as a young immigrant to Canada, I joined Canplan and soon went to South Yemen from where John "rescued" me when I was stuck there without a passport. Later on I was to work with John on several projects in the Carribbeans and so my connection with John lasted nearly 40 years. John was a mentor and a friend, always kind and generous. He will be missed. I am sorry I will not be able to join you for the service and I offer you my most sincere condolences. Michel

Dear John Jr. & Elizabeth, Aunt Lillian called me tonight to tell me of your father's passing. I send my heartfelt condolences and love to the both of you and your families. I remember your Dad fondly, when he & your mom came up to Stoney Creek (I was about 4 years old) and they gave me a party tea set to play with. Hold on to your happy memories as they will get you through the difficult days ahead. Love & Prayers, Your cousin Margie xox

I learned about John's untimely passing only now, but my condolences are sincere and heart-felt just the same. I have known John professionally and socially for many years, going back to his position with the County of Halifax, and have developed a solid admiration of his many achievements, his panache, and his sense of humour. It was probably the latter characteristic of his that got me a job working on his St.Kitts project. I sorely miss him. Victor Zahorski

Mr. John Jay gave me my first job as a Project Engineer in 1990 in the Commonwealth of Dominica. I am certain that I am only one of thousands on whose life he had a profound positive impact. I will forever be grateful to him. He was a very generous man and very professional. My first mentor in my engineering and construction management career. May he continue to Rest In Peace.
