Obituary of Joseph Shawn Janes

It is with great sadness that we announce that Joey, of Windsor, passed away suddenly in Hants Community Hospital, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 53. Born in Windsor on May 28, 1970, he was the son of Janet (Kirkpatrick) and the late Joseph Janes.

Joey loved hunting, fishing and being in the woods but he especially enjoyed time spent gathered with friends. Joey and Mariebel also enjoyed to travel and recently enjoyed a seven week trip to her home land in the Philippines with other trips being planned that they wanted to take in the future.

He is survived by his mother, Janet; partner, Mariebel Rivera; son, Mack Joseph Rivera; daughter, Britney Jo McKenzie; step-daughters, Mindy Dawn McKenzie and Precious Marie Pineda; sister, Janine Alisa Janes; paternal grandmother, Olive Armstrong; uncles, John Janes and Allan Kirkpatrick; aunt, Shirley Robertson; niece, Arianne Janes as well as many friends.

Besides his father, Joey was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Bill Armstrong.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
