Obituary of Jennifer MacPhee
It is with great sadness that we announce that Jenny passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, at the age of 75. Residing in Hantsport, she was born on August 25, 1947 in Hendon, Harrow, England and was the daughter of the late William James and Ethel Lydia (Knight) Middleton.
Jennifer developed a love of horses and riding at a young age and spent much of her childhood riding and attending horse shows. She was a caring and supportive soul which led her into many roles, all revolving around helping people. She completed her Nursing Training in England and soon after was working as a nurse out of Grenfell Mission in Newfoundland. Jennifer worked as the ships nurse on the CHS Baffin where she met the love of her life, Donald MacPhee. The two were married on July 16, 1974. She continued her nursing career as a private nurse and also worked in the pediatric ward of the old Civic Hospital in Halifax. After having her boys, Iain and James, she went back to work as a teacher’s assistant in the Hantsport School, working to support those with special needs and helping young people achieve their educational dreams. After her well-earned retirement in 2007, when not supporting her family, Jennifer loved to work in her garden, especially growing her tomatoes and fight the never-ending fight against weeds and wasps.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Donald J.; her boys, Iain and James; as well as a long list of extended family members.
Besides her parents, Jennifer was predeceased by her brother, Jim “Big Jim” Middleton.
The MacPhee family would like to offer their sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of the medical staff and first responders that supported us throughout this most difficult and painful experience. Also, thank you to all of our friends and family who are helping us grieve this terrible loss.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a private gathering to remember Jennifer’s life will be held.
