Obituary of Marie Beatrice Lavers

LAVERS, Marie Beatrice 83, of Windsor, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 8, 2016. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Hazel (Silver) Buchanan. Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by husband, John R. Lavers; brother, Donnie; and brother and sister, Georgie and Edith, both in infancy. She is survived by sons, Gary, Brian (Wanda); daughter, Karen (Richard) Bullock; three grandsons, Matthew, Daniel and Adam; three granddaughters, Peggy, Julia and Cheryl; three great-granddaughters, Jasmine, Mary and Brianna; one great-grandson, Robert; brothers, John (Liz) and Bobby (Kathy) Buchanan; sister-in-law, Donna Lavers; and many nieces and nephews. Marie had a love for animals. Her wedding and novelty cakes were enjoyed by many and she was affectionately known as "The Cake Lady." In later years, she found great happiness spending time with friends at the Manning. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13. A private family graveside service will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie may be made to the SPCA – Hants Branch, PO Box 2274, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
