GATES, Richard St. Clair Age 70, of Aylesford, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016, surrounded by family at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was the eldest son of Donald and Violet (Meldrum) Gates. Richard began his electrical business, Aylesford Electric, in 1974 and employed many electricians over the years. He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, fishing, camping, music festivals, the weekly lexicon puzzle and spending time with close family and friends. Richard will also be fondly remembered by many, especially the younger kids that were part of his life, as being a giant tease. He had a great sense of humour and a loving, generous heart. Besides his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Glenna Jean (Lynch); sons, Rik (Bridget), Shawn (Carrie); daughter, Cindy (Gordon) Dee; brother, Thomas (Adrienne); sister, Kathy (Brian) Morse; grandchildren, Lauren, Liam, Madeline, Victoria, Severyn, Jack and Brooke. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Heisler and the surgical nurses at Valley Regional, for their excellent care and concern for Richard and his family during his illness. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). A funeral service celebrating Richard's life will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 8 in Morristown Baptist Church, 6557 Aylesford Rd., Rev. Chad Clements officiating. A reception will follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the Morristown Community Centre, 10 Prospect Rd., Morristown. Donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 137 Chain Lake Dr., Halifax, NS B3S 1B3 or to a charity of one's choice.
