Obituary of Bruce Robert Tait

Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 67, of Falmouth, formerly of Ontario, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with heart disease on Monday, October 9, 2023 in the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax, with his family by his side. Bruce was born on March 3, 1956 in Regina, SK, a son of the late Alexander Davidson and Eileen Rebecca (Coates) Tait.

Bruce was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend and his larger-than-life personality will be missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by son, Levi (Keisha) Tait, Lexington, N.C.; daughter, Jasmine (Jonathan) Ford, Windsor; grandchildren, Nicholas, Collin and Nolan Tait, Grayson and Allie Rush and Charles and Owen Ford; brother, John (Pamela) Tait and nephew, Jamiel Tait, Pilot Butte, SK. He is also survived by Barbara Tait, who was a great friend, companion and caregiver this last year and through his illness.

Besides his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his nephew, Jesse Tait.

Bruce was happiest enjoying Jehovah’s creation being outdoors, whether that was camping and fishing with his family, puttering in the garden and bird watching or on his many epic adventures with friends on fishing trips or attending Saskatchewan Roughriders football games, of which he was an avid fan.

Bruce was a titan in the fire alarm industry having founded and managed Alsask Fire Equipment which became the largest fire alarm company in Saskatchewan. After selling his company in the late 90’s he went on to become Western Regional Manager and then Executive Vice-President, Canada-wide. He dedicated 44 years of his life to the safety of others.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Cardiology and Stroke Unit of the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, as well as the Halifax Rehabilitation Centre for the care and compassion they showed during Bruce’s time there. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317).
