Obituary of Wayne Richard Lewis

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Richard Lewis, a loving and supportive husband, dear father and grandfather, at the age of 78. He passed away peacefully, at his home in Falmouth, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born on March 22, 1942 in Halifax. Wayne was a strong, proud, honest and hardworking man. Throughout his career he worked at multiple jobs including the following; a Boiler Apprentice at the HMC Dockyard in Halifax, a Boiler Inspector for the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Owner and Operator of Lewis’ General Store, Vaughan, with his supportive wife, Dorothy, Boiler Operator Watchman at the Windsor Textiles, Instructor and Pipe Shop Foreman at the Halifax Shipyards and Shop Supervisor at Future Energy Research and Development-Boiler Design and Construction. On December 16, 2004, Wayne proudly received a Long Service Award recognizing 25 years of faithful service with the Provincial Government. Throughout the years as a husband, father and grandfather, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family teaching them all about life. Some of the things he liked to share were; his enjoyment of many farm animals, camping, hunting and fishing with his son, skidooing, his talented woodworking projects, playing guitar, enjoying making music including the Beatles, Elvis, Bill Haley and the Comets, telling entertaining stories, enjoying family gatherings, lobster suppers and watching his golden retriever videos. Also, in the later years supporting and enjoying the grandchildren’s hockey games, theatre, dance recitals and ringette games. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife, of almost 57 years, Dorothy (Ernst); children, Rhonda Mossman, Kellianne Lewis-Smith (Tony), Krista (Steve) Barker and Richard Lewis; grandchildren, Ben (Kelsie), Cassidy (Cameron), Gabriel, Emma (Joe), Jeremy, Ava and Eve. Wayne was an only child and was predeceased by his father, Albert Lewis; grandmother, Amelia Brown; his loving and supportive mother, Doris (MacGillivray) Pineo and his devoted golden retriever, Skipper. As a husband, father and grandfather we thank you for listening, caring, forgiving, sharing and for your patience and strength. We will be forever grateful for our time with you and we will love you forever. Special thanks to Dr. Stevens, Amber, Natalie, Dr. Enright, Tracey Sanford, all the compassionate paramedics, nurse Sarah’s special call from the VG, Hants Community Hospital nurses and doctors, Josh and Emelie at DeMont Family Funeral Home, Craig, Carol and Ray, our supportive neighbours and all of our special family and friends for all of the love and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). Wayne’s family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
