Please share a memory of Earl "Ronald" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Age 92, of Windsor, formerly of Ardoise, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Berwick, on June 3, 1926 he was the only child of the late Bruce and Viola Alspy (Smith) Best.

Ron served at the end of the Second World War in the Canadian Parachute Corp, from 1945-1947, then in the Air Force from 1951 to 1978. He retired as Master Warrant Officer from Greenwood, in 1978.

He enjoyed all sports; watching, coaching and playing, and was involved in curling, softball, hockey, bowling and badminton for most of his life. Ron coached hockey and softball for many years and led his military softball team to a Canadian championship. Upon retirement he coached men's and ladies softball in the Windsor area.  He loved spending time in the woods and was an avid hunter and fisherman well into his mid seventies. He enjoyed playing 45's and founded as well as managed the Windsor Bridge Club for many years. He was a member of the Windsor Legion where he was often seen in full military dress enjoying himself selling poppies. He looked forward to family gatherings where his nieces were often persuaded to sing his favourite Charlie Pride songs.

Ron is survived by his children, Bruce (Jennifer), Chris (Pam) and Ronda (Steve); and his grandchildren, Nick, Courtney and Craig. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta.

The Family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of V4 West for all their kindness and care of Ron over the last four years.
