Obituary of Leslie Donald Beazley
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, just three days shy of his 90th birthday, Les passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Hantsport, on June 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Richard Paul and Mary Elizabeth (nee Benedict) Beazley.
Les was in the funeral business for 50 years, ending his career as owner of Lohnes-Beazley Funeral Home, Windsor. He was a past member of the Nova Scotia Licensed Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association and past member of the Atlantic Provinces Funeral Directors and Service Convention.
He was very heavily involved with the Freemasons and Shriners and was a past member of Pesaquid and Leila Rebekah Lodges. Les served as Captain of Halifax Canton; Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Grand Patriarch, Grand Encampment of the Atlantic provinces; President of Department Council of the Atlantic provinces; Master of Poyntz and Welsford Masonic Lodges; District Deputy Grand Master of Masons for Hants County; and a member of Conclave #6, OSM of Masons. Les was past President of the Eastern and Western Valley Shrine Clubs. He was a long-term Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club of Windsor. He was also a member of St. George's Anglican Church in Upper Falmouth and the Avon RC Flyers Club.
Les is survived by his wife and friend, Betty Ann (nee Wilson); daughter, Karen; sons, Jeff, Paul and Andrew; grandchildren, Malory, Erin, Kerri, Ben, Matthew and Kate; great-grandchildren, Westley and Rhys; brothers, Richard (Grace) and Gregg (Cheryl) Kennedy; former wife, friend and mother of his children, Faye (nee Harvie); sister-in-law, Cindy; brother-in-law, Larry Giffin; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Besides his parents, Les was predeceased by his stepfather, Malcolm Kennedy; brother, Wayne and sister, Glenna (nee Kennedy) Giffin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a Masonic Tribute Service (everyone welcome) will be held at 6:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m., on Monday, June 29. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 30, in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Father Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre.
