Rest in peace, Grandad. I spent time with him here and there — at family dinners on King Street enjoying Betty Ann’s hashbrowns, at the Canada Day road race in Hantsport, for birthday suppers at the Crossroads, and at street parades driving Thomas the Tank Engine in a Shriners cap.
When I was little, Grandad took us flying in his Piper Cherokee plane, making sure to circle above Windsor until we spotted Albert Street and the funeral home — little square houses, roads, and waterways laid out like the model train-scapes in his basement. I remember being nervous, not sitting in the cockpit of an airplane thousands of feet in the air, but in the drivers seat of a 1979 Panther Lima on the dirt roads at the Hants County Exhibition grounds. Grandad had taken me out to teach me how to drive a stick shift — not easy to do in a retro-styled roadster where my toes barely reached the pedals. After an hour of practice he insisted my next test was to drive us home on the busy roads of Windsor, right then and there. When I protested, feeling anxious and unready, he replied with a growly and resolute, “You’re doing it.” I drove us all the way home and didn’t stall it once.
When I think of Grandad, I’ll think of these memories and of him sitting behind the big desk at the funeral home, amidst the brass pen holders, paperweights and plastic carpet protectors, the hum of the fish tank in the background — doing his work with quiet dignity.

Peter and I are saddened to read of Les's passing. He was such a kind and gentle soul. We spent many hours and days with Les and Betty Ann sharing motorcycle rides and events over many years. Someone as special as Les has left many cherished memories with many people who will always smile when they speak of him. We always looked forward to seeing him in the Train in the parades. He and Peter always had a laugh when they met up. Sending our deepest condolences to the family on this deep loss. Keep all those memories tucked in the corner of your heart and he will always be with you.

Les was a most welcome member of our family when he boarded with us when he worked as an undertaker in Halifax. He was a handsome, pleasant young man in his early twenties, black hair sleeked back and thick black eyebrows. We were five children and Les accepted our teasing him with regard to his occupation with the best of humour. We enjoyed his presence with us and even he came back to visit mom a number of times after he moved to Hantsport (with the hearse parked outside the door). We have such good memories. We, the Scott family, extend our sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Dear Paul, Barb and girls, Karen and family.
Sometimes in life there are blessings that may not always appear at first to be that.
Prolonged illness bring such blessings to mind. I remember meeting Les when I was a very young child and went home after school with Karen for after school fun. I can still vividly remember Les sitting beside the kitchen stove , polishing his shoes.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Beazley. I met Les back in 2002 when I first arrived in Hantsport UC. He was such a welcoming presence and calm demeanour to me when we shared final days for many loved ones, including his dear Mother, Mary.
