Obituary of Roy Arthur Hardy

Please share a memory of Roy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Arthur Hardy, of Currys Corner at age 59. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Born in Halifax on December 29, 1966, he was a son of the late Ernest Arnold and Lorraine Elizabeth (Lively) Hardy.

Roy was known for his hardworking nature, kind heart and deep love for family and friends. Throughout his life, he built many lasting relationships and was respected by all who knew him.

Roy worked for over 10 years at Dave Dupree Garage and later spent 18 years with R & R Kinsmans Auto Salvage. He was also a familiar face at Dartmouth Metals, where many came to know him through his passion for automobiles and the automotive community.

A devoted enthusiast of classic cars and country music, Roy could often be found talking about vehicles, listening to his favorite songs or spending time with the animals he loved so much. His easygoing nature, sense of humor and willingness to help others will be remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.

He leaves behind his beloved spouse of 15 years and dear friend of 35 years, Grace Melvina (Northup) Lake; sister, Karen Hardy (Larry) and nephew, Ernie Hardy, who was like a brother to him. Roy is also survived by his stepchildren, Shane (Kate), Cody (Hannah), Tammy, Lisa, Jeffery and Ashley; cherished step grandchildren, Norah, Lena, Athena, Winnie, Quintin, Tyreek, Tayonna, Antonius, Cierra, Nevaeh, Ava and Jayden; along with many extended family members and friends including his best friend, Richard.

Besides his parents, Roy was predeceased by his sister, Wanda Joyce Hardy.

Roy’s memory will live on in the stories shared around kitchen tables, at car shows, in garages and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
